New roof after asbestos demolition

What does it cost to remove an asbestos roof?

The cost of removing an asbestos roof varies, but often starts around 25-30,000 kr. and can be higher depending on the size and complexity of the roof.

A professional ensures proper and safe removal in accordance with legal requirements. This protects both your health and your property, avoiding unnecessary risks and unforeseen costs.

Was your roof built before 1990?

Was your roof built before 1990? Then it may contain asbestos. Many pre-1990 roofs were built with building materials that contain asbestos. Back then, asbestos was often used in roofing materials such as corrugated sheets, eternit sheets and slate sheets due to its strength, durability and fire retardant properties.

At Miljøgruppen, we always recommend having older roofs inspected for asbestos before you start renovation or demolition. Our authorised specialists can quickly assess the extent and handle any asbestos removal safely and professionally.

What is an asbestos roof and why is it dangerous?

Asbestos-containing roofs were previously used as a popular building material due to its durability, resistance to moisture and ability to resist fire. The material is often found in older corrugated and slate roofs, especially in buildings built before 1990.

Unfortunately, asbestos roofs pose a serious health risk when the material is damaged or the fibres are released into the air. Inhaling these fibres can lead to life-threatening diseases such as asbestosis, lung cancer and pleural cancer. Therefore, proper removal and handling is crucial for both your safety and the environment.

New rules for the removal of asbestos-containing roofs in 2025

From 1 January 2025, only authorised companies will be allowed to remove asbestos-containing roofs. These rules are in place to ensure that the work is carried out correctly and without health risks.
